Petra Nemcova

Petra Nemcová (born June 24, 1979 in Karviná; pronounced Nyemtsovah) is a Czechoslovakian-born fashion model and author. She was featured on the cover of the 2003 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and has also modeled for Victoria's Secret, and for many other companies in the women's clothing market.

On June 3, 2004, she was one of the telecast judges during the 53rd annual Miss Universe competition in Quito, Ecuador.

During the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, Petra was at the Khao Lak resort in Thailand with her main photographer and fiancé, Simon Atlee when a tsunami struck where they were staying.

Atlee was killed by drowning, and Nemcová suffered a broken pelvis and serious internal injuries, and was stripped naked of her swimsuit, but she managed to hold onto the top of a palm tree, reportedly for eight hours, until she was rescued by Thai civilians and airlifted to an inland hospital nearby. Petra spent three weeks in a Thai hospital, and then flew home to the Czech Republic, where she spent an additional three weeks in the hospital. Her first interview after her near-death
experience was with Diane Sawyer on ABC's Primetime Live, on March 9, 2005. Petra has also told of her experiences on the "Coady Read Live" program on CNN television.

Glamour magazine recently awarded Nemcová a "Survivor Award" for the tsunami ordeal, and how she has picked up her life since then (her comeback being complete with her appearance in the 2006 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue).

She wrote Love Always, Petra, ISBN 0446579130, published December 2005. It tells of her early life under Communist rule in Czechoslovakia, her entrance into the field of fashion and modeling, and her breakthrough into Sports Illustrated, which was her springboard to becoming a supermodel. She also tells of her life with Simon Atlee and how they fell in love and became engaged to marry.

She has been romantically linked and photographed with singer James Blunt. Pictures of them together in Ibiza were published online in early June 2006. On July 2006, Nemcová confirmed that she and Blunt are a couple.

But as of now, speculations are that the Face Off hero is getting closer to Nemcova babe who has recently split from British singer James Blunt after an year long romance. They were seen partying at the New York’s Marquee nightclub on April 27, 2007. Leo had come here with the purpose of celebrating the launch of his new film ‘Gardener of Eden’. The New York Daily New newspaper reports He looked like he was all over her. "They were together from before 12.30am to around 2.30am. He was holding her waist and touching her arm." Petra Nemcova hosts the royal dinner party

The Capitol File Magazine hosted a great party for the White House Correspondents on April 21, 2007 at the residence of Colombian Ambassador. The great cover star of the magazine, Petra Nemcova was one amongst the several other hosts namely Niche Media CEO Jason Binn, her Excellency Carolina Barco, Ambassador of Colombia, and Charles and Leigh Merinoff of the Charmer Sunbelt Group and the other cover star of the magazine, Kerry Washington.

The supermodel Nemcova was accompanied by the gracious Washington who features in the spring issue of the Capitol File Magazine. Together they both gave a wonderful welcome to both the D.C. power players and Hollywood’s famous and hot American Idol’s Sanjaya Malakar, Chris Sligh, A.J Calloway, Niece Nash, Greta Van Susteren, Isaiah Wahington and others.

Besides beauty, the Czech supermodel, Petra Nemcova has a generous heart too. Her philanthropic nature is evident by the school she has opened for the tsunami affected children in Thailand. Nemcova has also opened up a computer center there for the young children to pick up pace with the modern and frequently developing world.

The tsunami had given an irreparable wound to Nemcova because in it her boyfriend photographer, Simon Atlee was killed and she herself was badly injured. After this tragic incident, Nemcova opened up a Happy Herats Fund through which she provides help to all the children who suffer in some way or the other at the hands of natural disasters.

When Nemcova returned to Thailand she found that her organization has been worth.

The Petra Nemcova babe is not moved. She is not affected by her split with the famous singer James Blunt. The estrangement has not affected the supermodel’s social life at all. The break up of the Czech star happened last month. The reason speculated is that the celebrities realized that they do not have any time to spend with each other because of excess of work. But ironically now Nemcova is reported to be having a gala time with rehab ravers Robbie Williams and Lindsay Lohan. She is also actively participating in social work with the Happy Hearts Fund project which is also honored at the brick Awards ceremony in New York recently. Not bothered about the split with the ‘You are Beautiful’ singer, Nemcova told the ‘Sun’ that “I am having a great time”. To the People Magazine she said “We opened up a school and a computer centre in Thailand just three weeks ago. Fifty children were trying to hold me and bring me to show me the classrooms”. She added “They were so excited – when we got there, we were jumping around. It was amazing to see that it really touches their lives and makes them really happy”.

However the estranged lovers are still good friends.

The Czechoslovakian born fashion model and author, the beauty who featured on the cover of the 2003 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and the well-known model for Victoria’s Secret and for many big clothe marketing companies Petra Nemcova claims that her boyfriend James Blunt, the famous singer and song writer, had certainly no idea that he had driven over na autograph hunter’s foot as he made a move from one of the Hollywood’s party in the last month of February this year (2007). The “Take no Bravery” and “Back to Bedlam” song writer is being investigated now by the Los Angeles police. This happened after he left the place of the incident outside the agent Bryan Lourd’s pre-Oscar’s party.

But according to Nemcova who assisted James as a passenger when the incident happened claims that her boyfriend is innocent. He sped off because he did not realize he would injure the fan standing on the roadside. The intelligent beauty was one of the telecast judges during the 53rd annual Miss Universe competition in Quito, Ecuador said that "We found out the day after. We didn't know. We found out from the newspaper.... It's just really sad."

However the incident has now been classified as a hit and run.
